We have seen the impact that event predictions have in terms of the weather forecasting. Here, we venture into the other environmental changes that can be predicted, and the usefulness of such event predictions.
Occurrence of Natural calamities:
Natural calamities are something that cannot be prevented. But, if the event predictions of such calamities are known prior to their occurrence, the disaster control team will have that extra time to plan out the time such that there aren’t much losses caused in terms of lives at the most. Hence, event predictions which predict the occurrence of such natural calamities are very important. They are given out after immense study of various conditions and are given out well in advance too.
Let us consider an example of a tornado. The short duration that it lasts, a tornado causes huge loss in terms of both property and people. However, it is possible to predict the occurrence of tornados through the event predictions. Thus, precautionary measures, like evacuation of people, etc can be done before the tornado strikes. Hence, event predictions become very useful.
Prediction of epidemics:
Event predictions also predict the occurrence of certain epidemics. Such event predictions are given out based on the study of the causes of the particular epidemic, like water, pests, etc. Certain times, there might be pollution of certain utilities in an area without the people of the area realizing it. That is when the event predictions help.
For example, if the main source of water of a certain city is contaminated by say, the cholera bacteria. In such a case, a cholera epidemic might result in the area. Analysts then get to work, studying the causes of various cases of cholera, and give out an event prediction, thus forewarning the people who are not affected. Hence, the event predictions also help take precautionary measures in avoiding getting affected by the epidemic.
